I am looking at the political events of the past month from the perspective of a mom with two young boys who is also a full time professional. I have given this much thought.
While there are many issues facing this industry and region, I think once the election is over people are going to be thinking, "What now?"
What are the politicians who have made all these promises about education, jobs, the economy, etc. going to do now after being elected into office?
There is a general uncertainty in the air – an unrest about whether things are going to get better or worse.
With two small children, sometimes all I can think about is what the world is going to look like when they are seniors in high school or freshmen in college and they are looking at possible careers.
Will their lives look far different than what their father and I have had? I can only hope so, but will it be better or worse?
I look at the current situation from a professional standpoint as a marketing director in the AEC industry. I believe the country is holding its breath. We are wondering what’s going to happen after today for an economy that desperately needs either a shot in the arm or a defibrillator to the chest.
At the same time I see it from a personal standpoint, as a mother who only hopes the people in power see what’s right for the good of all people, not just a small, privileged group.
I hope my sons can grow up with the benefits the founding fathers of this country envisioned so many years ago for everyone living in the United States.
